Welcome to Stonehouse On The Hill
A hidden gem nestled in the serene countryside of Holden, Massachusetts, just a stone's throw from downtown Worcester. This historic stone house, over 125 years old, was originally built in the late 1800s as a summer retreat for a distinguished Worcester attorney. Initially constructed as a stucco home in an area of parceled farms, it was surrounded by the same iconic fieldstone walls that define the charm of New England, many of which still grace the approach to our grounds today.
Over the years, the house underwent significant transformations, expanding into a stunning stone estate crafted from the very fieldstone that once marked the surrounding farms. As the region evolved from its agrarian roots, nature reclaimed the landscape, enveloping the home in a lush forest that enhances its beauty and tranquility.
In 1994, the house fell into the loving stewardship of Michael and Diane Bombard, who dedicated themselves to restoring it to its former glory and still reside in the estate to this day. Now, they are delighted to share their enchanting grounds with you, creating lasting memories for your special moments.
With its arched windows, open porches, and picturesque settings, Stonehouse provides an idyllic backdrop for any occasion. The estate is set on ten acres overlooking the Holden Reservoirs, surrounded by a forest of majestic beech and birch trees. Our enchanting walled English garden is perfect for photographs, cocktails, and games, offering a magical setting for your event.
At Stonehouse On The Hill, we invite you to experience the beauty and tranquility of our secluded haven. With sprawling grounds adorned with vibrant gardens and towering trees, and located at the end of a private drive, our venue promises a serene escape into nature—a perfect setting for your next gathering. Please note access to the interior of the home is limited to our elegant Reservoir Room and modern guest restrooms, ensuring your event remains a seamless outdoor experience.
